Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects social communication and interaction, as well as behavior and sensory processing. The term “spectrum” is used to describe the wide range of symptoms and severity levels that individuals with ASD may experience. Symptoms of ASD can vary widely, but may include difficulty with social interaction, delayed speech or language development, repetitive behaviors or routines, sensory sensitivities, and difficulty with nonverbal communication. ASD is a lifelong condition that affects individuals differently, and there is no known cure. However, early diagnosis and interventions can help individuals with ASD manage their symptoms and improve their overall quality of life.
